Subterranean what? by sebastiane_hegarty published on 2011-05-15T13:37:02Z I found this very odd sound, submerged in the dipping pond at Winnall Moors, Winchester UK. To me it sounds territorial in pattern and more like an insect than a reptile (toad). Has anyone any idea what it is? The full recording is six-minutes long and the pattern disappears, then re-emerges. I was using a hydrophone made by Jez Riley French (thank you Jez). Genre Fieldrecording Comment by dOKTORANDOm very impressive indeed 2011-06-07T18:20:20Z Comment by Tanao best insect ever! though it looks really ugly... how did you record that, i couldn't imagine it to "loud".. but then again, i have no clou of fieldrecording! 2011-05-31T20:19:32Z Comment by L'attrape son Hi Sebastiane, this sound is made by Sigara dorsalis (sorry I don't know the english name). I made the same recording using a B&K 8101 hydrophone : http://audioblog.sonatura.com/?p=1290 2011-05-18T20:27:02Z Comment by Korvus Wow what a great recording.
