'This one's a real Slap In The Bass'
Can you feel the heat? For their second release on No Brainer Records the Hungarian production duo Slap In The Bass takes us to 'Egypt'. You have never been? Well they have never been either, but who needs to go when you have music which enlightens your imagination.
The title track feels mystical, brutal, promising and cheerful all at the same time. A positively disturbing mixture of sound that paints a powerful picture of this country which is neither truthful, a cliché nor just another lie. Reading this you may ask yourself: Is he high?
Not sure. What I know for a fact is that I can hear Act Yo Age (Southern Fried) sitting in a café in Cairo smoking their shishas while some Eygptian funkateers have a little jam session going on.
Grahmzilla of Bassanovva (Grizzly) seems to be on some more potent substances. He just flew into Egypt from Mexcio and is now hanging around in an arcade blasting off spaceships for 3:25 and then: Bang. Game over. Impressive skills.
I can see Hostage (Nightshifters) sitting in a taxi from the airport, stuck in traffic. But they are playing 'Popcorn' on the radio which seems to lighten up his mood to an extent he never experienced before.
'Pyramid' is another bit of time travel, to the future as well as the past. Slap In The Bass waking up the Pharaohs with an irresistible technoid tribal rhythm that resonates especially well inside geometric formations.
For the grande finale our heroes team up with Canadian's dernier cri Botnek (Discobelle). They booked the party van following the Nile down to 'Kom Ombo'.
'If your dancefloor is a desert, this can be your oasis'
