"Requiem For Evita" - Original Orchestration by Orcha published on 2011-02-19T01:22:28Z DESCRIPTION: The whole of Argentina is gripped by a dramatic wave of sorrow upon learning of the untimely death of their legendary first lady, Eva Duarte de Peron, from uterine cancer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Slightly better version featuring much more realistic and expressive brass. The rest of the instruments have been left untouched. I'm not too pleased with this yet. It needs to soar but feels mostly anticlimactic. The improved brass helps somewhat but I think what will eventually do the trick is better mixed strings that harmonize with the supporting synths. A little volume tweaking should take care of that. There is also a huge amount of bass missing and that will undoubtedly give it a more 'epic' sound, if you will. There is still the midi instruments (added last minute temporarily for the sake of completion--cymbals and various other percussion) too, which I'm sure stifle its potential. The brass will likely not change as I'm more than pleased with their sound. This orchestration is from the original stage adaptation of the musical, which began as a 2 LP concept album released in 1976, which had orchestrations similar to these but with a rock edge. The original London production, starring Elaine Paige at the Prince Edward Theatre, featured these orchestrations which were later refined and set as the standard all around the world for many years. Orchestrated by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Hersey Kay, variations with slight adjustments of these orchestrations have been recorded for both the film version starring Madonna and the recent Broadway and London revivals.
