ON THE BRINK #18 DOUBTFUL SOUND NZ/OLAF STAPLEDON 'STAR-MAKER' by Therockist 5432 published on 2013-04-16T00:28:31Z This show was recorded at Deep Cove, Doubtful Sound, Fiordland, New Zealand, a very enchanted and powerful remote place of immense natural beauty, massive amounts of water, dense vegetation and home of many dolphins! In honour of Einstein's observation that 'imagination is more important than knowledge' I share excerpts from British philosopher/writer Olaf Stapledon's brilliant 1937 book 'Star-maker' in which the mind of the author is transported on a journey through time and space to glimpse and commune with innumerable worlds, improbable beings, planets and star-systems, and 'civilizations' struggling with spiritual crises much like our own, some less 'advanced' but most having progressed literally light-years beyond anything we can comprehend. Ultimately, he confronts the 'star-maker.' Absolutely brilliantly imaginative writing unlike anything else I've ever read. The breadth and depth of Stapledon's creativity is an inspiration to us who love life here and now, and a challenge to us all to use our own internal technologies in the ways it is designed for...in honour of love, life and the power and beauty of being here now on Mothership Earth.
