(preview) Darin Epsilon & Tom Sela - Lapis Lazuli (Original Mix) - [Flow Vinyl] by Darin Epsilon published on 2011-08-01T08:48:45Z Original Mix charted #6 in Hernan Cattaneo's Top 20 Chart. Flow Vinyl’s second summer release is a collaboration between Darin Epsilon and Tom Sela. Darin Epsilon from Los Angeles needs little introduction, and he combines a hectic international DJ schedule with productions on many of the best labels. For his debut release on Flow Vinyl, Darin joined forces with regular studio partner Tom Sela to create Lapis Lazuli, a breezy, percussive track that subtly takes hold of the listener.

A vocal sample rests on top of a complex array of percussion, including a deliciously sweet marimba, while other sounds drift in and out of the mix. Less is more with ‘Lapis Lazuli’, and it’s sure to become a firm favourite at beach parties and open-air events this summer.

The international remix package starts with Hungary and Lank who gives ‘Lapis Lazuli’ a tougher tech edge while still retaining its original dreamy quality. Next up is Andre Sobota from São Paulo who has released a string of well received tracks on labels like microCastle Music and Pryda Friends. The Brazilian producer delivers a remix in his trademark driving, big room style. DNYO, also from São Paulo, completes the picture with a darker, bass-heavy late night version. Lapis lazuli is a gemstone of the kind that might have come straight out of the Arabian Nights: a deep blue with golden inclusions of pyrites which shimmer like little stars. This opaque, deep blue gemstone has a grand past. It was among the first gemstones to be worn as jewellery and worked on. At excavations in the ancient centres of culture around the Mediterranean, archaeologists have again and again found among the grave furnishings decorative chains and figures made of lapis lazuli – clear indications that the deep blue stone was already popular thousands of years ago among the people of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Persia, Greece and Rome. 2011-08-22T23:35:50Z Comment by M4ks1move Lapis lazuli is found in limestone in the Kokcha River valley of Badakhshan province in northeastern Afghanistan, where the Sar-e-Sang mine deposits have been worked for more than 6,000 years (c) Wikipedia. Аnd you have the stone Darin ? 2011-08-22T22:58:58Z Comment by Trim masterpiece. 2011-08-22T18:40:36Z Comment by Suggy Very nice 2011-08-22T15:43:25Z Comment by Agent Dj (Distant Minds) Man this is so nostalgic for me! epic prog sounds echo thru my mind and memories with this tune!
