His unconventional approach to an age-old instrument, played contemplatively and intimately, has won him many fans around the world. As announced by Drowned In Sound, he finally returns on October 10th 2011 with the successor to his highly acclaimed solo piano works Wintermusik and The Bells. Released on Erased Tapes Records and entitled FELT, the album will coincide with a European tour in November 2011 – a truly memorable and magical live experience. CONTENT: Having recorded his last album live in a large, reverberant church, Nils Frahm now invites you to put on your headphones and dive into a world of microscopic and delicate sounds – so intimate that you could be sitting beside him. Recorded late at night in the reflective solitude and silence of his studio in Berlin, Frahm uncovers a new sound and source of inspiration within these peaceful moments: 'Originally I wanted to do my neighbours a favour by damping the sound of my piano. If I want to play piano during the quiet of the night, the only respectful way is by layering thick felt in front of the strings and using very gentle fingers. It was then that I discovered that my piano sounds beautiful with the damper.’ Captivated by this sonic exposition, he placed the microphones so deep inside the piano that they were almost touching the strings. This brought a host of external sounds to the recordings which most producers would try their hardest to hide: ‘I hear myself breathing and panting, the scraping sound of the piano's action and the creaking of my wooden floorboards – all equally as loud as the music. The music becomes a contingency, a chance, an accident within all this rustling. My heart opens and I wonder what exactly it is that makes me feel so happy.’ FELT creates its own personal microcosm, offering a refuge of tender and honest beauty. Я благодарен тебе! Ты молодец, ты всё сделал правильно, спасибо тебе. Хорошо поработал, я, однако, не всегда понимаю, что пытаются передать творцы в музыке своей и по своему ощущаю это, создаю образы и представляю. 2016-01-01T10:38:52Z Comment by Tejuuu O⚡️ Utter brilliants ! 2015-10-14T18:57:29Z Comment by Tejuuu O⚡️ Soothingly peaceful 2015-10-14T18:55:54Z Comment by iCockaine Ahora realmente te amo... 2014-12-23T23:39:11Z Comment by Kolevaaa class!!! 2014-10-03T08:41:25Z Comment by Desirie i need to listen to this when my soul needs replenishing. thank f**k for nils <3 2014-09-16T03:31:50Z Comment by Ruki Anthony wow 2014-07-11T14:46:32Z Comment by Patrick Lester-Rourke Really nice use of the mechanical sounds of the piano, really like the production 2014-04-18T09:37:38Z Comment by moxon music loving this beautifully done 2014-02-24T21:10:51Z Comment by 24/7 ears Brilliant 2014-02-14T12:04:58Z Comment by Eva Roberti esto es muy hermoso...love it 2014-01-31T18:08:19Z Comment by Bruno Gonzalez buen trabajo muy apacible, y fino 2013-10-09T01:27:24Z Comment by Pellstar What's the background noise.
